Conner, “The Hammer,” McVee has a score to settle and enough spare parts in her body to build a small car.

Tarent Powers destroyed her life, but even her enhanced abilities and her job as a police agent couldn’t get her close enough to the corporate mob boss to bring him down.

Now the key to his unraveling has fallen into her lap.
Can she do what’s necessary to make him pay even if it means destroying the life of an innocent young woman?

Come along for a ride in this future that corporate take-overs, plague and automation have made. A world where everything from crime, to central government, to the police are run by the corporations, and where a “mad” cult has sprung up whose members want to remake the world using hand tools and good, hard work.

“Conner McVee has a problem. She’s a throwback in a sterile world almost totally reliant on machines, and she’s a cop with ties to the underworld seeking revenge against the man who killed her lover. But when she sets a plot for revenge in motion, it turns into something far more than she ever bargained for. With the cops and criminals both after her, she’s got to fight back to protect herself, her new lover, and her way of life. That’s okay, she thinks fast, acts faster, and wields a modified nail gun. Maybe it’s not a problem after all. Action, attitude, sex, politics, and more attitude... Rosen has another winner!” - Rob Gates, free-lance writer & editor of “Spectrum”

“Selina Rosen writes an action adventure with a heroine who is as hard as nails and just as sharp. I guarantee, you won’t want to put this one down.” - Laura J. Underwood, author of Ard Magister and The Black Hunter

“Nobody creates tougher than nails heroines better than Selina Rosen. She’s outdone even herself with Conner “The Hammer” McVee, a cyborg who is half-human, half-machine, and all woman. Hammer Town is high-octane science fiction overflowing with adventure, humor, romance and blue collar sensibilities. Persons not enjoying this book must be diagnosed as entertainment impaired.” - Garrett Peck, co-editor of Personal Demons and Tooth & Claw

Hammer Town eBook Selina Rosen

I loved the concept of 'Hammer'. Big, bad, crime fighting women. Cyber implants, good looking but able to feel emotions. What more could you ask for? I personally have never been one for the "The kidnapper and the victim falling in love, the kidnapper continues to take down the victims father...and crime...and now protecting the victim/lover (after anger towards and name calling)." For me, it's to close to the 'Stockholm effect'.

I also liked the concept of the 'real world' verses the 'computer world'. As technology improves and we have to do less...is that really better?

Hammer is a great butt kicking machine and strong woman lead. I give that character a 5. Without the close reference to the Stockholm effect, this novel would have been a 4.5 (for me). HAPPY READING.

Hammer Town eBook Selina Rosen Reviews

Conner 'Hammer' McVee takes a pounding trying to bring down a crime lord, responsible for the death of her former lover, when she kidnaps his isolated daughter, from another crime lord that kidnapped her.

Conner unexpectedly falls for the naïve girl and then brings down the Hammer on the girl's father and anyone else that attempts to keep them apart.

Riveting action, captivating romance, and enthralling adventure that will nail you in place until you reach the end of the ride.
I'm normally too lazy to review the books I read, and frankly, it's not like I'm looking for high literature when I pick up my newest sci-fi/space opera/action/what have you thriller.

A good fast read, some action to keep me interested, perhaps a plot twist or two will do fine, thank you!

So why review Selina Rosen's books? Well, frankly, because the stupid 'bot asked me to, and because the books seem to be under-reviewed for the entertainment value they deliver.

I recently stumbled on Selina Rosen through Baen books, and powered through a whole whack of her books.
And boy, or rather girl in her case, has she ever written quite a few of them!

Sword and Sorcery? Check (when's the next one coming out btw?)
Police Thriller? Check
Intergalactic Space Recycling? Check
Post-Apocalyptic Genetically Modified Space Warfare? Check
Zombies? Check (I admit I don't like Zombies, so I only read a couple of stores from Bubbas of the Apocalypse)
Surviving the apocalypse? Check
Humorous/Tongue in Cheek books? Check
Serious books? Check
Telepaths? Check
Cyborgs? Check
"Normal" people? Check
Lesbians? Everywhere!

Which does bring us to one point about Rosen's books the author has an agenda as subtle as getting hit by a 2x4 on the head. If you're offended by "lesbians" and "lesbian agendas" you may want to stay clear of her books... though, now that I think of it, you probably would benefit most from reading them!

Having said that... the stories are good, the action is good, and the reads are enjoyable!

And while each book did have its individual great moments and "meah" points, frankly they all fell in the same general category/level for me Enjoyable reads I was not unhappy to have spent my money on, and not unhappy to have invested my time on.

The ones that were part of a series, I immediately wanted more off, and the ones that were not part of a series, I most certainly asked "why doesn't she write more of them", a usual indication that the character(s) had grown on me!

And that's about it. If you're looking for a nice, fast read for your weekend at the cabin, or the beach, or in front of the fire ;-), you could certainly do worse!
I like strong female characters. I even married one. This is a well written action street cop adventure in a slightly future world a lot like ours except they have some cool stuff.
The Action Scenes always have a purpose in the plot not just it's been 50 pages since the last gun battle better have another one now.
Tarent isn't superwoman. She feels like she based on a real person with backstory, fears, flaws and prejudices. Even the minor characters are more filled out than your normal action adventure.
If you like your badass women in spaceships, round up a copy or "Queen of Denial" also by Selina Rosen. Again highly recommended.
Conner "Hammer" McVee was a cop who had broken many bones and been shot so often that she was more machine than human. Hammer had a personal score to settle with Tarent Powers, the corporate mob boss, and was determined to bring him down. The problem was that she could never get close enough to him. Not until ...
Elantra was Tarent's only child and meant everything to him. When Hammer got hold of Elantra, and had everyone believing it was to "protect" the city girl, Tarent put a high bounty out. It never occurred to Tarent that Elantra might NOT WANT to be rescued.
**** Be warned, if you have any ugly feelings about people who are, let us say, ... not straight... then keep out of Hammer Town!
The story is set in the future where machines run most of the world. People seldom have to leave their homes if they do not wish to. A few towns are filled with "Constructionists" who live as people in OUR time (2003) do. To them, using a stove or washing dishes is barbaric! In Hammer's time though, nothing has changed crime-wise. There are still mob bosses, hoodlums, gangs, etc.
There are a few sub-plots running throughout the story to keep the action moving along too. You won't find yourself bored at all. Great story. ****
